Client: Local Church Congregation
Project Type: Event Video Production (Virtual Anniversary Service)
Goal: Create a cohesive and inspiring video event from scattered user-submitted footage
Challenge
Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the church could not host its milestone anniversary in person. The plan was to produce a virtual service hosted on the church’s website. However, the available content included user-submitted videos of varying formats, quality, and orientation. Some were vertical smartphone clips, others were shaky Zoom recordings. There was no central script, and multiple elements (speeches, memories, music) needed to be woven into one coherent event.
Solution
I served as both editor and creative director, bringing structure to chaos. I organized and cleaned up all footage, balanced audio levels, and added voiceovers and transitions to ensure a seamless flow. Where footage was missing or inconsistent, I added custom slideshows with photos, text overlays, and soft background music to enhance the experience.
Key Components:
- Edited and color-corrected dozens of clips from parishioners
- Added titles, transitions, and synced background music
- Created a slideshow montage from decades of church history photos
- Voiceover narration to bridge gaps and unify the experience
- Final video formatted for smooth upload to the church website and YouTube
Results
- The final video was warmly received by the church community, with many describing it as emotional and professional
- Viewership exceeded expectations, with hundreds of plays in the first week
- Client feedback: “You brought our church family together in a time we couldn’t be physically present. This video meant everything.”
